  • Apologies if this has been asked/answered before but I couldn’t find the answer I was looking for… here goes:

    I have a PAL Amiga 500 + the ACA500Plus. I am looking into the ACE2B RAM upgrade.

The only thing that worries me is that apparently the chip on this defaults to NTSC at boot time, but can be overridden (to PAL) with a switch from the ACA500. So I wanted to check if this means I can use this upgrade only in conjunction with the ACA500Plus since I have a PAL machine?

    Thanks.

The Agnus is software-switchable (like all ECS Agnus), so you can also choose PAL modes without the ACA500plus, either by pressing space in the early startup menu, or by choosing a PAL mode in the Prefs of your WB. We also have a bootblock that you can put on floppies that want to see the machine in PAL mode - you can either run that before you insert another title, or you can write that to the very title you're trying to run - if that's not a trackloader. I believe that bootblock is in our Wiki.
