There is no reason it shouldn't work. And even if for some very, very strange reason it didn't work, there is no reason why it would damage the motherboard.

Your picture shows a Rev.3 mother board. While it's rare, it has the same pinout as later A500 main boards, so the A512 will work.
And for the unlikely case that there's damage on your computer that can be tracked back to our products: We have a product liability insurance.
