Hi there,
i was wondering why the mount kit i used on my commodore 64c (made in China) doesn't fit on it. Someone can help with it? Seems that screws doesn't match.
thank you so much
Federico.

Could you post photos of the mount holes? So far, we didn't have any report of non-fitting parts in all the years, but Commodore may have made even more versions that we haven't seen yet.
Jens
Hello Jens,
mount holes are on your original case. What do you mean? The mount kit is the one you sold me a few days ago... Anyway, i'll show you some pictures taken from the PCB.
thank you
this is the old case.
This appears to be the standard "short board" - can you elaborate which part is "not fitting"?
Jens
Sure, I will. I'll show you pictures so you can help me to understand how to fit on it properly. My question is: which hole is the one that match the left metal plate?
thank you
Second: do I have to put the metal plate first or PCB?
There's a small, but coloured, pictured manual with it. The left one goes *under* the board, then you add the rubber ring, then you put the mainboard on top and tighten the screw.
The right one should be obvious.
Again, please unfold that small manual. I know it's really small, but it shows all the steps in easy pictures.
Jens
Thank you Jens,
of course I refered to that small manual, but for me was a little bit tricky. Anyway, I'll double check it again.
The main hole, related to the left plate, should be the one in the bottom left side of yur case. OK, I know it. Then i place the rubber ring and the PCB. That way the mainboard should be lifted a bit on that side, Ins'it?
The second plate seems to be unsafe, because of it goes above the metal part (maybe solders, i don't remember right now), of the mainboard.
I'll try to do that again in the next days (weekend) and I'll come back to you very soon (with some pictures).
Thank you.
Federico
That way the mainboard should be lifted a bit on that side, Ins'it?
No, it should not be lifted at all. The PCB will push against the rubber ring, which will deform a tiny bit. You'll see it right when you have put the rubber rind on: The top of the ring is almost the same as the top of the screw dome.
Jens
Ok I’m going to try. What about the shield? Should I leave or remove?
Thank you
That's a matter of taste. Some people say that it's really good for shielding (which I doubt, as high frequencies only need tiny gaps to escape), others say that it mostly causes heat problems.
Jens
I was asking about the shield because it makes difficult to place the left plate correctly.
Jens, I have 10 screws but i need one more for the left plate. But this screw seems to be to long to fit on the hole
You see? this screw could drill the plastic.... and I need it to the mainboard (I have got 7 screws and 3 more to close the case)
That's all correct: The screw will hold the main board, and the mainboard, in turn, will hold the keyboard holder.
Jens
A part that's supposed to be grounded is connected to ground. Are you really serious about your requests, or do you want to test my patience? It's getting a bit... no, I'm not gonna use the word. Just yet...
Jens
Listen, what are you talking about? Serious? Of course I'm. I spent my money and I want to be sure that my c64 doesn't blow up. Ok? I was worried that a metal part on a soldered bulb could damage my Computer.
Well, your mount kit is in place now.
Thank you for your help Jens, I appreciate it very much.
