  • Hey Jens,

Recently acquired a 20th anni Buddha flash 2nd hand, but it has a burning hot voltage regulator ( U6) and is not recognised by the amiga.

Do you have any idea what might the issue might be? I do not know if the card is within warranty, if it isn't would replacing the the part be a likely fix?

    Thanks in advance

  • No, that's not it - all Buddhas have been equipped with genuine 3.3V regulators. The patch-resistor you see in that picture is from the development process, some pull-up of pull-down resistor, can't remember.

What most likely happened to this card is that the CPLD has a latch-up, and practically shorts the 3.3V rail. We can repair that, or maybe (depending on the version of the card), you can do that completely by yourself. Please count the number of pins on the CPLD: Is that 44 or 64 pins?

  • Hi Jens

Ah ok it does seem like it's shorting out. It's the 44 pin version. Happy to make the changes my self is possible since Brexit has caused massive delays etc.

    Thanks again

    Nad

  • You can exchange the CPLD, but the contents are not public, so it'll have to come here for programming anyway. Delays or not - it won't be back with you earlier if you send it later :-)
