  • Hello,

I have P96 problem. I had fresh OS3.9 install where P96 worked and updated it with AKReal (AmiKit 68k).

Now P96 drivers and my RTG drivers are not visible (I see only PAL). After invoking Devs/Monitors/csgfx (my RTG driver name), I get

    Couldn't open rtg.library

Please help. I have no P96 problem on both OS3.2 and OS3.9.

    My setup:

    Amiga 1200

WARP 1260 060 and RTG card (FPU and MMU)

    KICK from AmigaOS 3.2.1

    OS base: AmigaOS3.9

Custom OS: AK Real 9.2 (based on AmiKt)

  • Did you try a re-install of P96? This sounds like your AKReal "update" has trashed your installation.

Also, please note that I consider OS3.5/OS3.9 (from around 25 years ago) a dead fork of the Amiga OS. We do not test on OS3.5 or OS3.9 - only on 3.1 and the latest 3.1.4/3.2 versions.

  • You may be in the free update period for 3.4.1 - let me know the order ID, and I'll send out the 3.4.1 binary vial eMail (still no new shop system, sorry!).

    Jens

  • That's unfortunate - but I don't have any space for exceptions, as your choice of price clearly said that you don't care for updates and support.

    Jens

  • My choice of price said I do care for update and support (since I bought a recent lib despite older version exists freely on Aminet), it is just I re-pay for the update when it becomes relevant.

I am not a slave of updates, I only pay for the value for me I discover.

Anyway I performed clean reinstall based on this file list to be deleted:

    https://forum.icomp.de/index.php?thread/2315-p96-3-2-0-and-rtg-library-issue/&postID=21205#post21205

and anything is as is. No change.

  • When I trigger P96Prefs program, it says

The program requires P96 version 43 (3.0.0) or better.

Strange, I consider this a bug.

  • since I bought a recent lib

I don't see that in your history. This is actually the only purchase you've ever made, according to our database. If there are other order IDs that I should look at, let me know.

The program requires P96 version 43 (3.0.0) or better.

Strange, I consider this a bug.

How can we trigger this "bug" (quotes while not verified) on a supported system?

    Jens

  • Regarding the purchase, the purchase was made around 2022. I gave You order number already.

Regarding a bug, it tells the wrong message (on version 3.4.0) hence it is a bug.

So that lowest-possible-price purchase is really the only one you've ever made. Again, that's not what the PWYW feature is for; it's for repeat customers. You're now asking for support for a dead fork, custom WB, while at the same time saying that other (supported) configs work fine.

I'm sorry, but I have a hard time spending more time on this, especially if you're not answering my question about how I can reproduce the problem on a supported WB.

I'm happy to look into this if you can demonstrate how to reproduce this problem on WB3.1, 3.1.4 or 3.2.

    Jens

  • Every shop has lowest-possible-price purchase.

I am not asking to support for anything dead but 2023 dated version 3.4.0.

The problem on a supported WB can be reproduced as follows. I am sorry for not providing answer due to misunderstanding.

I install properly OS3.9 with BB1 and BB2. I also install Picasso96 3.4.0 and files for my graphic card (WARP1260 RTG) from amigawarp.eu . Everything works well at that point. Later on, I install fresh AmiKit Real (AK Real) from the site (http://www.real.amiga.sk ), please note this is also lowest-possible-price purchase) and after installing, P96 modes are absent and WARP RTG modes are absent, only PAL.

    EDIT*

AK Real demands WB3.9 so not sure it would work on 3.1 or 3.2.

If You claim that support is given only to:

    - most current P96 release - or

    - for the customers that have ongoing paid subscription,

please state this explicitly because I for instance do not know the rules here.

...on a dead fork (3.9) with a custom add-on that made it break (AKReal). Sorry, but I can't help with that.

Besides, no, I haven't seen a lot of shops with a pay-what-you-want feature. You definitely made a deliberate choice to pay less than the recommended price, although you're a first-time customer of this software. No specific problem with that, other than the message that arrives here: You don't want to make sure that there's enough money for further developoment in the future.

    I install properly OS3.9 with BB1 and BB2.

Again, these are dead forks, and we don't support them.

and after installing, P96 modes are absent and WARP RTG modes are absent, only PAL.

Obviously, that's not a P96 problem, but an AKReal problem. Please consider contacting them for support.

There are no rules like that - even though you didn't pay the recommended price, you still have the same right to a working software as others who have paid full price. You therefore had the exact same 12 months of free updates as everyone else. I could have maybe-maybe extended that update period if you had chosen a price that doesn't say "I don't care about the recommendation, I just want to save a few bucks", I could have made an exception, but I have no reason to do that - that's all I'm saying.

However, I'm not responsible if an unrelated piece of software (AKReal) breaks P96. Please report it to the AKReal team.
