Connecting SCART device when MK3 is mounted?

  • There are two ways that a Genlock influences the Amiga timing:


    1) it provides the H/V sync signals

    2) it provides the overall system clock


    H/V sync is not a problem, Indivision AGA MK3 will just adapt. However, replacing the main system clock with a PLL-generated clock from the Genlock will most likely fail, as Indivision AGA MK3 also uses a PLL to generate most of it's clocks. Cascading PLLs in this way is not a good idea - if you Genlock to a broadcast-quality signal, it will most likely work, but if the source is a VCR, you can probably count the seconds until you see artefacts on screen - if the monitor will sync at all :-)
