  • Hi all,

I'm receiving this error message when trying to test different modes in Indivision Prefs:

"Don't select more than 8 different VGA modes"

I have no idea why this is happening, so hopefully someone here can explain :-)

    Thanks in advance,

    AndrewC

  • Obviously, you are talking about Indivision AGA MK2 or MK2cr.

Different VGA output modes require different output pixel clocks. Since the FPGA on the product does not have re-configurable PLLs, the whole FPGA will be re-configured on the fly when the pixel clock needs to be changed. For that action, the product has eight different slots in the flash ROM, hence the limitation to eight different pixel clocks.

The config tool will check what pixel clocks are requried, and if you are crossing the limit, you will get the mentioned error message. Solution: Check your config for unwanted VGA output modes and unify where possible. After all, you only have one panel connected, right :-)?
