Ok well, it wasnt as bad as i thought :)

Attached is a WIP version of the menusystem that contains some compatibility patches to the EAPI. I have tested with this and the v2 release of the Sams Journey EF version, and it worked for me.

That said, it "should" work even with the last regular release - Key is using the v2 release.

    > I had thought this would be a faster and larger means of storage than the 1541 emulation.

As said, there is almost nothing the builtin Filebrowser can't do that MMC64 could do. MMC64 did not have "mass storage" via a kernal device either.

    > Trying to load it with a Retro Replay cartridge, or indeed any cartridge, produces only a blank screen.

The probably happens because you have a SDHC card inserted, in that case it hangs when trying to initialize the SD card - remove it and it will continue.

"That said, the "v1.1" one also appears buggy"

No, that doesn't seem to be the case. I think what we are looking at is a combination of two problems:

    - an odd bug in the MMU of chameleon and/or the Easyflash mapping

    - yet another compiler bug (which i am trying to track down now)

Diskdrives (emulated or real) are unrelated to the MMC64 emulation, they work with or without - make sure you didnt do some other change to the setup that could cause this.

Now, to use MMC64 emulation, it must be enabled in the cartridge config, and then you have to reset to BASIC with an active cartridge. The cartridge slot must contain a cartridge that is compatible with MMC64 (for example: Retro Replay). For example press "1" in the Main Menu to do this in the default config (slot 1 contains Retro Replay).

Another thing to keep in mind is that MMC64 does not support SDHC cards, and some of it's plugins will require FAT16 formatting.

MMC64 features are documented in our wiki here: http://wiki.icomp.de/wiki/MMC64

That said, what are you trying to do with MMC64? Are you sure you cant do the same thing with the regular chameleon filebrowser? There are only a few rather esoteric things (like playing mp3 with c64@mp3) that are not supported.

VoEC stands for "VAT on e-commerce". This means that customers from Norway are paying VAT already in our shop, which we will pay to the Norwegian state. In turn, parcels will be handled much faster at the border: Recipients of our parcels don't have to pay the standard handling fee of about 14,- EUR, and there are no further duties to pay if each component in the parcel is under 3000,- NOK (about 280,- EUR) - Norwegian customs call this "low value goods".

This new service will be applied to all Norwegian customers automatically. Customers who have placed a pre-order with us recently and wish to pre-pay VAT should contact us via e-Mail, mentioning the order ID of the pre-order. If you choose not to pre-pay VAT, parcels will be handled with standard border taxation.

While developing this new shop feature, prices were shown without the German VAT for a short period. This has caused confusion for some customers, because they believed that prices were dropped by 16%. This was just a display error, and all orders have been processed with VAT where applicable. We apologise for any inconvenience.

With broken CIAs you'd still get at least "some" picture though... Actually you can remove the CIAs and the SIDs for testing, you should get atleast the BASIC powerup screen (without blinking cursor).

That said, do you really get "no picture" or do you get a "picture", but its all black? (wenn you power off and on again, does the monitor do "something"?). "all black" picture usually indicates either broken CPU or Kernal ROM. Thats another thing you can check actually, use "M" in the remote menu and make sure you have the default kernal rom active.
