Yes, you never actually have to delete a core, which is why there is no such option in the chaco gui.

AR/RR has a 1581 compatible loader, it should work
-
First time i hear about this... i don't own a 1581 though, so can't test
How exactly is the 1581 connected? If it's connected to the C64, can you try the IEC connector at the Chameleon? Perhaps that makes a difference.
-
I don't see a simple out of the box solution for this either unfortunately
-
My guess would be that the card keeps responding to SPI commands somehow, and then messes up the transfer from flash to ram... there is very little we can do about this.
-
Wow, that is strange.
Most SD cards should work fine, but if it draws excessive power.... maybe strange things can happen. Try another, perhaps a "small" one (like 2gb or sth like that).
could you tell what kind of card it is (if you can, make a photo from front and backside, the backside usually has extra info)

And thats reproducable, not just coincedence? (Try a dozen times or so, please) - because that doesnt make a lot of sense, the two ways do pretty much the same thing.
Just to make sure: this still happens also in standalone mode? If so, you should probably return the chameleon and have it replaced
Edit: i tried on my C64RMK2 and it behaves normal - so likely not related to the reset problem we observed before
-
If it doesnt even work in standalone mode, my guess would be either the Flash or the RAM is broken.
It does start up normally after a powercycle though? If yes, what happens if you press "A" in the menu? (that should also reload the first core, just like long press on the right button)
-
Yes, correct. connect both at the same time, then run the update program. And no worries, there is hardly anything you can do wrong

What do I need to test the cartridge in standalone mode ? A power cable ?
For Chameleon v2 just a second USB cable, For v1 you need the breakout cable.
If you get the same behaviour in standalone mode, please update via USB using the update program
-
This looks like a Memory corruption... please do the following:
- update to the latest Firmware if you have not already done so: http://wiki.icomp.de/wiki/Chameleon#Updates
- now try if the Chameleon boots in standalone mode
- try if the button works in standalone mode
If all of these is fine, try again in Cartridge mode. You may also want to clean the expansion port of the C64 with alcohol (IPA).
Also, please describe your C64 setup, what kind of C64 is it, and what kind of expansions are in it (if any).
pwsoft: I remember we had some problem with reset on C64R a while ago (that still needs fixing) - perhaps this is related?
-
What kind of Powersupply are you using? Also please describe your entire setup, all extensions etc
-
What kind of Powersupply are you using? What other expansions are in this system (if any)?

Indeed, it just generates a short spike on the NMI line - no way to find out if "its still pressed"
-
The 251715 / 252535 probably just has a similar delay logic, so that doesnt matter.
(Now the following is just guessing)
The NMI is edge triggered (rather than level triggered like IRQ), and can be inhibited by not acknowledging it - eg after CIA2 triggered an NMI. In that case pressing RESTORE "does nothing". I dont know how that io entity does it, but since it needs to read and write the CIA1 (to read the joystick and keyboard), perhaps this is what happens? You could try doing a "read access" on the C64 bus to $dd0d, that will acknowledge the NMI.
@pwsoft is on vacation atm unfortunately, he should be able to tell
-
The RESTORE key is directly connected to the NMI pin of the 6510 in a C64... it can't be "read" in the classic sense. The only way would be checking the NMI line. No idea how practical that is for other cores
-
Best are things that display several areas that scroll with different speeds - like the Giana Sisters "get ready" screen, or the "Starpaws" wait sceen.

> Well, I'm a "breadbox lover" - as you said, it's the computer I played with when I was young, a long time ago.
Int that case, you want 6569 and 6581
-
you have to use this one: https://csdb.dk/release/?id=172787 - the earler one is buggy, i couldnt figure out how to fix it 100% either, but since there is a bugfix release, i am not really motivated to look further either :=) (yeah its v1.1, not v2, my bad)
