It worked for 24 hours running Doom demos. Now it is on the shelf and will remain there for some years until I decide to do something with it. Case closed.

We can put it through a long-term test here - maybe some other part is at fault (though I have a hard time explaining how IR might be affected, as that's not part of the chipset). Since you also reported having trouble in A500s, I won't even ask for the low clearance under the CDTV lid and possible shorts.
If you need to return something to iComp for service...
In your letter, please clearly describe that you first reported a single-bit RAM error in bit#14 in August 2023 (I assume you've bought the unit at that time?).
Jens
Originally, I bought this for a CDTV. After some time, I found it works unreliably and tested it with an Amiga 500 and got that error. After that, I replaced the Agnus socket, and now it seems to work with the same Amiga 500 computer mentioned in the first post. I bought this on June 15th, 2023, ID 134576.
Generally, I think this doesn't fit properly on the CDTV; some chips under the Agnus touch it and make it sit a little skewed. Or could it be something to do with the GARY adapter? I have tried to get this to work on the CDTV several times, and it has been out of use for weeks at a time. Last time, it worked for about a week. First, I noticed that the mouse's right button didn't work with either a real mouse or a remote controller. After that, the CDTV encountered a guru error during a basic unarchive operation. I replaced the 8375 Agnus with the original 8372 Agnus, and the CDTV worked stably again.
Running The Settlers just fine last 24 hours.
I wanted it for the CDTV and not an Amiga 500 computer, but I think I give up trying to make it work with the CDTV.

I couldn't get this to work, no matter how much I tried using IPA to clean the sockets.
It works for a day or a few weeks, and after that, I need to push it down to make it work. That doesn't always work; sometimes the CDTV hangs in a weird way, like the right mouse button doesn't work or the IR and right mouse. Problems are always solved by removing the Agnus and using the 8372 Agnus. Weeks pass, and I try again, and it works sometimes, until it doesn't. Now I've decided not to try again.
-
This just doesn't work as waited. I might or might not work about a week a row, but after that it requires reseating.
I ended have it installed to my CDTV, as I couldn't get it work at all with my Amiga 500 computers. (tested two). I don't think there is anything "wrong" with adapter, socket just doesn't be tight enough. I thing only proper way to install 8375 Agnus would be solder an adapter/socket for it. Something like this https://github.com/LIV2/Diet-Agnus-A500-plus
I have now removed it and installed Agnus 8372.
I have all the needed equipment to solder one, but I always surprised myself how bad I'm with it. Most probably destiny of this ACE2 is to get pinned when I'm pass away one day.
-
Got it working, I could run mem test without a errors.
-
I can send it to you, to what address?
-
Is this a new ACE2b unit, or really the old ACE2 with an SMD adapter socket?
Jens
Bought it 19th, June 2023.
-
I can buy it from you
Sorry no I woun't sell it.. It didn't work with my CDTV and now it didn't work my Amiga 500 which has a brand new Agnus socket from Amigakit.
I just don't want to hassle it any more.
-
OK, nothing can be done to make it work. I send it to recycling.
-
I installed ACE2 to Amiga 500 with rev6a motherboard. It has previously made a 1mb chip ram modification, do I need to reverse it?
or is error in picture because a something else?
-
Got it,
only thing it's prints is
(xsurf 5) DevOpen Count=1
And ADoom is stuck to "Cheking network status". it should pass it fast
and start "waiting players".
-
To be clear, I should use driver from this archive X-surf-1.16.lha and driver x-surf. Device
Put ENV:sana2 drawer file x-surf.config or x-surf-100.config?
Open it and add DEBUGLEV 1 to it.
And debug info is displayed through serial?
-
Our network drivers are SANA2, and in no way special.
When it just doesn't start, I'd suspect some setup problem.
On our driver's side you might want to try the options
DEBUGLEV 1
to see if the driver gets initialized and if there's some activtity, and
NOAMITCPOPT 1
This is original X-Surf, DEBUGLEV 1 in ENV:sana2\x-surf.config doesn't seem to do anything?
-
I don't get any specific error, it just doesn't start.
AmIPX works without a TCP/IP stack and guide says :
QuoteAMIPX coexists with...
----------------------
AmiTCP/IP - even on the same network adapter. Should be the case with Envoy and
any TCP/IP stack, since the packet types used by IPX differ from
those of TCP/IP.
I have tested it without a TCP/IP stack, it works with or without AmiTCP version from your shop and PlipBox.device
-
I have two X-Surf card like picture in here http://wiki.icomp.de/wiki/X-Surf and x-surf.device is also from that page.
Noticed that http://aminet.net/package/comm/net/amipx1_24 doesn't work with it. I get it working with Plipbox.device in few seconds.
For example ADoom supports IPX and it has some advantages over TCP/IP.
Any change to fix problem?

Thanks for your answer. Space question is now answered.
About NTSC, I just ask generally to figure out what is practical meaning of NTSC Agnus on PAL country. What about WHDload games?
-
I'm interested that product and would like to be sure it fits CDTV. I can't found any pictures.
How about a NTSC mode, what happens if I start PAL game from floppy?
-
Sorry, we don't have any Merlin for testing.
Maybe you could ask from Mr. Riedel, he is very nice guy and also from German.
-
Hello,
Mr. Riedel says that when used it with Zorro II machine, it uses only 2mb it's 4mb ram, but it's oringinal driver pack ProBench could use that non visible part of it's ram as a cache.
Would that be possible with Picasso 96?
-
How do I reset it to defaults? Wiki tells it is possible, but not how?
