  • Tarifs in the US can double the price anyway.

Only if you accept the bogus tariff invoice from UPS. What you need to do is to dispute the invoice and tell them to apply the *real* tariff that applies to stuff from Europe, which is 15%. If you don't dispute the invoice, UPS will charge you 100% and assume that the parcel contains aluminium or steel from China.

I import car audio accessories from a manufacturer in China to here in the US. They ship to me via FedEx. I haven't been charged tariffs. Not sure if China is doing some trickery but I did read that FedEx is easier to deal with. Not sure if FedEx is an option there or not. I would definitely buy one of these cards when they're available, but I may have to have it sent to a friend in Germany and have her forward it to me. :D

  • ...or use a forwarding service, yes.

FedEx is an option withour shipment broker, but they are considerably more expensive than UPS and DHL express (who are in the middle between FedEx and UPS price-wise). It might turn out to be cheaper then using a forwarding service (especially because we have to charge VAT if we ship to any EU country), but if you're importing from China already, this sounds like you have a business and a contract with FedEx. Why not add Amiga products to your portfolio?

  • No trickery, FedEx is the way to go for Europe to the US as well. I had a large number of packages shipped for a motorcycle restoration project from all over Europe (mainly Italy, Germany, and the UK) and either received no tariff bill, or one that was exactly in line with how the items were declared. UPS and DHL screwed this up almost every time. FedEx is a little more expensive, but the packages arrive quickly and without drama (and it's less expensive overall, after factoring UPS and DHL's bogus import charges).

Jens, do you need a test case for renewed USA shipping using FedEx? I could certainly email you an order... ^^

  • Just want to share my experience with FedEx. I recently bought some computer parts from Europe; they have been shipped via FedEx. Later, I received a message and email regarding custom tax with a link for payment. My computer parts were around $250 and tax was $31

  • Marcus (bubbob42 on a1k.org) suggested the name "Iris" - and I quite like it! It doesn't raise the expectations that "Picasso 5" would do, with so many expansions for the P-IV that never saw the light of day, and this new card definitely cutting away a few features that the P-IV really had.

  • Does it mean, that for A4000D is recommended Picasso5 + Indivision AGA mk 3 ?
And video connector cannot be connected to PICASSO 5?

However, the whole concept of this card is basically "ACA1240/1260 fast GFX card connected to a BigRamPlus", so it's developed with a lot faster bus access in mind. The next iteration of this card will be the the ACA1240/1260 RTG card.

Will ACA1240/1260 RTG card have both VGA and HDMI outputs?

That, or a previous version of Indivision that fits your A4000D.

Not sure what you mean by "video connector" - if you mean the DB23, then the answer would be "depends on your monitor": If it can display 15kHz analogue video, then this new card will at least pass it through.

    Yes.

sorry, my mistake - I mean internal video slot ;-)

  • I mean internal video slot

That one carries the same 15kHz signals that the DB23 also has, but the answer is slightly different, as there is no connector for those signals. Essentially, it does not make sense to use 15kHz signals, as almost no monitor can handle TV frequencies these days. A flicker fixer is always the way to go, especially if you just want a "fire&forget" solution: Indivision AGA will just display (almost) any AGA mode. That's a property you don't find in any modern monitor.
