ACA500PLUS DisMo relocate

    Hi. I want to relocate the seven-segment display to the top of the case I created for the ACA500PLUS, which is about 5-7 cm from its current location on the ACA board. I read several similar topics on the forum and if I understood correctly, then if it is possible to transfer the display, then only by soldering it from the board itself. If technically it will work, what are the best cables to use to connect the display to its control board? And please tell me how to disconnect its control board from the ACA500PLUS board - do I need to remove the hot glue that connects them, or will I also need to desolder them with pin contacts?

    First of all, it's not recommended to use a cable for the DisMo at all. Signals aren't buffered, and they are critical for system stability. If you really must relocate that board, it should be using a circuit board that has a solig GND reference for each signal. No cable that I'm aware of provides that.


    The unit isn't "hot-glued". We're using silicone, and you can cut that with a sharp knife. Once you've cut it, you can just pull the DisMo off, build your relocation-circuit board and put that in between. Make sure to provide lots of copper for the power and ground traces, use a thinner (for example 0.8mm) circuit board that has the second side completely filled with a GND copper fill.
