  • Ok. Thanks for your feedback.

No, I got that ROM online (did not program it by myself) so I don't have much glue about that hardware.

I can try for sure the original ROM 3.0. my goal would be to build custom ROM with the squierrelscsi.device (and others) at some point

Since your accelerator has an MMU, you should be abl to lau

Do you mean that if I use the maprom function through the MMU, the hardware ROM won't "disturb" anymore (?).

Actually, I stopped using ROM/WB 3.2 as it created more issues as it solved.

Now using WB 3.1 and the 3.x (from nonamedthem).

Might the upcoming firmware improve the timing/compatibility for the 040?

PS: I wil not have so much time for the Amiga this week. Likely next one .

No - I'd really like to run tests with the original 3.0 ROMs installed, but I believe you have 3.2 installed, which is why you've bought the new ROMs. With 3.0 in the ROM sockets, 3.2 will likely need the MMU - I haven't used that myself, so I can't tell for sure. However, you have all the hardware needed that I can think of - 3.2 will run, one way or another.

We'll work on the 40MHz core, as that's a key thing that is currently not stable. If we find the instability there, it's likely that it's also in the 33MHz core, so a fix (if found) can definitely be ported.

  • Hello,

same results (SCSI stalls) using the original ROM 3.0 (see photo for details). I also switch to 25Mhz but unfortunately, I did not make any difference (just slower).

I did not test the PCMCIA Ethernet again as it was pretty stable already before (without any clock port devices).

I hope it helps. I can for sure lend the SCSI devices and SurfSquirrel to iComp a few weeks for testing if required.

  • Hi,

I've read all your postings again, but could not get a clear answer on one detail: If the peripheral "stalls", then does that mean that the mouse pointer is locked and only a reset/power cycle helps, or is the mouse still moving, but clicks don't work any more?

    Ah sorry for that.

By all my testing, only the PCMCIA device "stalls". It means there is no access to it anymore (networking or disk access). However, the OS and others applications continue to works nicely (mouse, IDE/CF Card access, HippoPlayer playing music).

  • I've had a long conversation with Peter about this case (and the other one with IDE instabiilty) yesterday on the phone. We have some ideas where things *might* go wrong, and I need to build a special measurement setup to find the parameters that we're looking for, This will take me a few days, which is fine, as Peter is on a 10-day holiday starting today.

Ok. Let me know if I can test more things.

In the mean while, I will put back my normal setup (Amiblaster, etc...) but avoid the Squirrel.
