  • Hello! I tried to scan the internet for the following issue but not much.

I have small "glitches" on screen with the Ultiamte 2+ connected. When its not connected all is fine. I have not tried to feed the Ultimate power itself yet. (its not meant to be powered on with the c64, only standalone.

I am using the icomp PSU. Tried 3 different monitors etc. Could the PSU be to weak? Thanks

ps. video is to large to upload here.

  • The PSU is fine for this.

You'll have to play with the "phi2" settings in the U2 menu. Your best bet is to ask around in Gideons forums - someone else must have done it before :)

  • Power shouldn't be the problem, as the C64RMK2 power supply is about 2.5 times as powerful than the original Commodore transformer.

If you take a still picture of the glitches, I might already be able to make a good guess about what's the cause.

  • You are really quick to reply, Jens. Love that. I dont think a picture will do this justice but I can send you a mail with a small video. OK?

I did not think it was due to the psu but better to ask:-)

  • I'll take that mail-bullet when the Phi2 adjustment isn't successful. Tobias is right: it's definitely not a general problem, as the 1541U is a popular device, just like the C64RMK2 is a popular board. The combination is quite common, and we don't know of un-solvable problems.

  • For me it just works, so i never touched those settings myself... indeed ask around in Gideons U2 group

  • I set my PHI2 to 80ns and PH1 to 140ns which was the advice on Gideon's U2 group, or in the manual somewhere. For me, this was to ensure virtual drive compatibility rather than screen glitches though.
