  • Hello

    I just got a ecsv4 plus 604n from alinea

I see in manual there is cia adaptor for all amigas ezcept a600 :-)

A600 needs v3 version. I ask alinea but they have not in stock

    Asking

    1) if i can purchace a bare adaptor

    2) if it safe to use it without it, i guess only online config will not work?!

    3) if the adaptor fits in cia. And in case in future i decide to add one of these cia to ps2 keyboard adaptor, can somehow solder pin there? And would be safe?

    Thanx

I've had an extensive eMail conversation with Alinea about that this morning. As we're still in the early rollot phase of this product, I haven't updated the shop with the article ID that includes the A600 CIA adapter. I'm expecting customers to eMail me with their need for an A600 adapter, and sometimes I see from previous orders that the respective customer owns an A600, so I switch to the A600 version manually.

Alinea wanted to buy a bunch of A600 CIA adapters, but stock is not sufficient to include both adapters with every flicker fixer, so we agreed on shipping only one unit to them, so they can sell that to you.

Yes, Indivision ECS V4 can be safely used without the CIA adapter. Only the live config feature won't be available in that case.

I'd expect a keybaord adapter to go on the keyboard controller chip, not the CIA, as it's not "legal" to pull the reset line low on the CIA chip (it's a push-pull reset line, and you essentially cause a short, possibly breaking things in the process). I'd avoid any product that is a keyboard adapter and that plugs to the CIA chip, except when it doesn't offer the keyboard reset function.

  • THanx for reply

Not need imho to ship alla adaptor in every sale. Just a question at sales point to which adaptor send. So stock last longer as 600 users are a fraction of total sales:-)

As for adaptor. I see all afaptor for 600 are to U7 chip. Speaking about "sum 600" and a few more DIY. But all i have seen !

Not that i am NOT currently thinkin to use one just "thinking loud"

And for me as long as i can configure indivision , even not "live" its ok not even connect one :+)

  • Speaking about "sum 600"

Yeah, that, I recommend to either not use the keyboard reset function, or to cut the trace that connects to the reset line.

  • Hi, I'm in the same boat. I bought it from Alinea last december and they sent me the other adapter. Can we arrange something in the same vein?

    Thanks!!

  • Alinea wanted to buy a number of PLCC-CIA adapters from me, but I refused that - reasoning stated above. So they only recieved one unit with the current shipment (which already arrived), and they had to pay for that adapter, as these cost me money, too. If I had the information "for A600" in the first place, there would have been no price difference. There's no need to go through Alinea - you can also buy the unit directly from us - just send me an eMail.
