  • Hi Jens.

I recently bought the P96 and I have to say that it works well but I have found some difficulties that I have managed to fix or bypass, while others I just can't. I wanted to ask you for advice. I'll list the problems I have encountered one by one:

    - The Installer gives me an error during installation if I use the "update version already installed" formula. If I use the automatic one everything goes smoothly. The error is shown in the photo I attached. I read that it is perhaps due to the Italian language. Could it be?

    - The P96Prefs program does not work and does not want to know. If I use, instead of the installed one, the one in the installer folder, it gives me a "fit" error in the window. I also attached a photo of this. I read that it must only be used on AmigaOS 3.2. Is it possible?

    - Picasso96Mode does not find any resolution for me. I am currently using Picasso96 V. 3.4.1 on AmiKIT V. 12.6. In Devs/Monitors there are both Native and UAEGFX. Maybe it's normal since there are no video cards and since they are in emulation. What do you think?

    - During the expert installation the installer replaced the Native V. 43.x driver with the V. 40.x one. I let it happen because I thought it was normal, but I would like to ask you. What do you think about this?

    - I would like to talk to you about a possible LICENSE to use the P96 driver in one of my applications. Can we talk about it privately even just via eMail? Where can I contact you about this?

    I await your feedback.

    Thanks for everything.

  • P96Prefs is indeed OS3.2+ only.

AmiKIT apperas to be a special WB distribution. We don't test against that, and I have no interest in supporting that. Please use a standard WB, as that's known-good with P96.

I'm not sub-licensing, sorry. However, I'm mostly interested in selling P96 - if you want to take over the whole project, just send me an eMail. If you click on "reply" on any of the eMails that the shop has sent you, it's going to end up in my inbox.

I won't support custom WB installations. We can't possibly solve problems that "may or may not" be caused by alterations to the WB installation - please understand that this can't possibly be covered by standard product support. Please use a standard 3.1 or 3.2 installation - that's what the installer is known-good with. If that's not possible, please turn to the person/group that has created your WB and ask for help there.

"native driver" - please specify: What file, what source (Commodore, Hyperion?) and what exact version/timestamp?

  • Sorry Jens.

Maybe I wasn't clear because my English is very poor. I'll use an automatic translator so maybe I can avoid trivial mistakes that don't allow me to make myself understood.

I currently only use emulated machines. One is AmiKIT V. 12.6 (the latest) and the other is AmigaForever V.10 (the latest). In both cases I always have all the same errors, so I would rule out the fact that the problems come from them. However, excluding AmiKIT that you are not interested in supporting, I use a clean installation of AmigaOS V. 3.1 on an Amiga 500 with both ROM and Workbench both 3.1. The clean installation is not mixed with any other software. The errors you see in the photos that are attached to my first post are errors that repeat themselves over and over again.

To be clear, I install AmigaOS 3.1 clean first and then Picasso96 V. 3.4.0 and V. 3.4.1, just to see the differences between the 2 versions.

The first, V. 3.4.0 installs without problems. The second one gives problems, at least 2 I have detected, and I wanted to know from you if it was normal in at least one of the 2 cases, or if there is actually some bug in the installation script (it's normal, it happens to everyone, I also develop, and I create an infinite number of bugs! XD).

The first error it gives me is when I install V. 3.4.1 as an expert and as an UPDATE OF THE ALREADY INSTALLED VERSION. And from "Error 6021" and the installer ends immediately after.

The second is that YOUR Native driver (devs/monitors) that is in the center of the Setup V. 3.4.0 is V. 43.x but the one that is installed by V. 3.4.1 of your Setup is V. 40.x. and I wanted to know if this was normal or if it is actually a problem!

Look at the photos attached to this post too. Thanks!

Maybe I wasn't clear enough: We are not responsible for those products.
