  • Hi everyone!

Having a small issue with restoring Kickstart and OS3.1 install files.

    when I try use F1, I get:

    Kickstart v3.1 r40.63

    Copying ROM image from flash

    Checksum check (packed data)

    Unpacking ROM image

    Checksum check (unpacked data)

    ROM checksum error

I am trying to follow the wiki "OS installation files" section.

    • my 16G USB is formatted with FAT (4GB partition using DISKPART) (not FAT32 or exFAT)
    • copied the contents of "ACA500p_OS_flash" to root of USB
    • power up & press F1

But I get the same error above. ROM checksum error

Any idea what I am doing wrong?

    Thanks!

  • Although this is already solved, pelase allow the question:

I am trying to follow the wiki "OS installation files" section.

Why? These files usually never need replacing, which is why we are clearly writing to NOT use that archive unless you are asked to do so by our tech staff or me.

  • Hi Jens, I understand.

F1 has never worked for me, so I assumed bad checksum

It seems my original issue was actually "Max CPU speed" to high, and not a bad checksum

Jens In my opinion, you should reformulate the following sentence in the wiki section "Menu Update":

    Quote
The newest version will break the old OS installer, so it's strongly recommended to also update the OS installer, to at least version 1.5 (see below).

You probably mean, users must update the "aca500+installer", but it looks like you want users to update the "OS installer" at the end of the page.
