  • Hey Jens,

When will the A12OO 'CF-card holder' and the add-on for the ACA1221LC to turn it on/off via software that you showed on Amiwest be available for sale?

    Thx

The buffered CF card adapter for A600/A1200 is already in production, so it may be available before Xmas.

I have finalized the ACA500plus switcher yesterday evening - next step is to set a production panel and talk back to the assembly company to confirm that this is a good panel.

Please note that the switcher will not fit an A1200 unless it's towered. Further, it will only make sense on an A1200 for the even older cards that can't switch to 14MHz sync frequency. The ACA1221lc can go cycle-exact with the A1200, so switching it off should never be required. For ACA1221, ACA1221ec, ACA1220, ACA1231, ACA1232 and ACA1233 it may make sense if you're after compatibility with a stock A1200.

However, I see the main market for the switcher to be with ACA500plus users: The "cloaking device" allows making the A500 compatible with the oldschool machines that have 512k+512k RAM config, 7MHz-68000 and a specific Kickstart. This is truly the most compatible machine you can find - and with the switcher, you don't have to remove the 32-bit accelerator that takes the setup to A3000 levels - selecting these setups is a pure software thing then.

  • Thx Jens for the quick answer!

I would indeed use the switcher with my ACA500plus and the 1221LC card :)

  • thanks for letting me know about this Phil, I'd also love this as a slightly more affordable solution to get cloaking mode to work than upgrading my 1221lc to a 1234.. and less of a hassle than disconnecting the 1221lc.

Here's another vote for the switcher Jens!
