Network Problem
The network could not be started.
Iconx
network: Unknown command
Obvious solution: Put Iconx into your path.
What do you mean put Iconx into your path?
Its not obvious?
Iconx is a tool (a file) from the OS. It should be made available by placing the file into any of the directories in the path, or the path should be extended to the directory where Iconx can be found.
Look up the "path" command in your shell reference (chapter 6 of the Amiga manual).
OK thanks for the help.
Getting tooltype errors now, see snoopdos.screen here:
Please make a user account and upload the pic here - I have disabled all JS-blockers and still can't see the picture. That google drive really wants to invade something here that doesn't get through my firewall, and I refuse to poke more holes into it.
That doesn't look like failures to me - not all tooltypes *must* be in the info file - unless the new Iconx has new requirements. To me, this looks like these tooltypes were looked for, couldn't find them, so the window is opened anyway, but with standard parameters. The open coordinates look like one parameter is missing - I don't know the Syntax off the top of my head. Doesn't seem like a problem either, as the result code is "OK" - so the window opens, and what happens next?
The installer does not produce the file "IconX.info", I created this file by copying "Mount iComp.info! and renaming it. I did this as snoopdos was showing an error when it tried to read "IconX.info".
Nothing happens after the error windows are displayed.
Hi, without having looked into all details of the conversation yet, we have the known issue on OS>3.1 that SYS:WBStartup is no longer in the path. You can either specify the absolute path to the 'Network' command, add SYS:WBStartup to the path, or as a dirty workaround, make a copy of 'Network' in C: or somewhere else in the path. This should make the iComp share appear on double-clicking its icon. Other networking functionality is not affected to my knowledge.
Can you please provide instructions on how to:
Specify the absolute path to the 'Network' command, add SYS:WBStartup to the path
Yes, use a text editor, open the file S:user-startup, add the following line, ideally after the line ";BEGIN AmiTCP":
Path SYS:WBStartup
Dont't forget "add", otherwise all other search directories will be voided
Jens, wouldn't hurt, but shouldn't be needed.
Thanks Timm and Jens really appreciated.
Will sort tonight when I get home.
