The game(s) may be using a different screen mode, resulting in a different choice of output modes. Hard to say without more info, like program/demo/game names or uploading your config here for verification.
This is my config.
It's a bog-standard config, I can use it without issues. Could you tell us the name of the game that causes problems, or some demo perhaps?

I only tested two games. High Seas Trader and Teenagent. The same thing happens in both cases.
Does the monitor show "auto-adjust" at any time? Is it connected via DVI or VGA?
Also, the OSD showing a 27.64kHz horizontal frequency is not PAL - the game must be set to some other screen mode.
Very strange. Boot from floppy disk properly. I removed DbPAL from Sys:Devs/Monitors and it works fine.

Probably a tool like "VGAonly" running? That was my first suspicion when I saw the Horizontal frequency on the OSD.
I only had PAL and DbPAL in Devs:Monitors.
..and the game must have chosen DblPAL for some unknown reason. I'd rate this one "resolved"
