Yes the docking station is compatible with both versions of the Turbo Chameleon.
-
Is there a planned run for the docking station ? It seems out of stock.
-
Yes, new Docking stations are planned. No ETD yet.
-
Thanks Jens ! It seems Vesalia still has old stock. Should I head for them or wait for 2019 release ? Is there any upgrades for new V2 Chameleon for the new docking station ?
Also, If I read correctly, I will need a C64 or Amiga500 keyboard to use this in standalone mode. Is it possible to use a generic PC keyboard with Chameleon in standalone mode ? What kind of dongle do I need ?
-
oh it seems I will need a PS2 keyboard which connects to Chameleon directly, so no dongles needed. Cool !
-
If Vesalia hasa stock, you'll have it quicker, but you should ask first. Their shop system does not have the same connection to their inventory database as we have.
-
ok it turned out Jens was right and Vesalia was out of stock. (They first accepted my order, got payment, but refunded after a week ! Doh !)
So, we are looking forward for you to complete the docking stations Jens !
Btw, is it possible to use a real C64 as a docking station ? (without powering it etc.)
-
You can use a C64 as "docking station" - but you will have to power the C64
-
thank you, in that case, I shouldnt power the chameleon right ? it will draw power from the c64 ?
-
Correct - if you insert the Chameleon V2 into the C64, the power-input is not accessible. It is mechanically impossible to insert a plug. This is a protection measure, so it is not possible to power the C64 from the Chameleon side.

Is there some trick I've missed to get a real C64 Keyboard working when plugged into the docking station?
I've tried two different, verified working keyboards plugged into the dock and neither do a thing as far as I can tell.
They're both keyed and seem impossible to plug in the wrong way but not a single key has any response.
The joystick still works to navigate the menu so I know the chameleon hasn't frozen.
-
My bad. I read the German side and see it a known bug with a fix already. Yay!
-
Also waiting for more docking stations to be available, hope that's soon!
-
Same. Feels like I only have half the tools without a docking station. Hope I don’t miss out.
-
Hope I don’t miss out.
There will be plenty - and it'll also work on the Minimig, just like the old version.
-
Any updates on the Docking Stations for V2
-
Circuit boards arrived just today, now we can send all parts to the SMD assembly house. At least another 4 weeks until they're available, as THT assembly is done by yet another contractor.
-
That is great news. Looking forward to placing my order.

Hi Jens, one month has passed, when the docking stations are going to be available again? I look forward to placing my order! Thanks!
