  • Yes it scroll smooth only the letters are strange. For the rest all works perfect. Used it only for C64 CRT, D64 games and REU demos.

  • Thanks, see it in the next upgrade. Can I maybe downgrade it to the old 9i update. Or is that impossible and brick it.

  • Just tried the update and the screen output on my iiyama syncmaster (g2530hsu) is now great.

Before only 800x600 would sync at 50Hz with vsync at this screen, but with a fairly big border in the top (very anoing).

Now every mode syns at 50Hz. and most give an instand image with a perfect fit from side to side and top to bottem @50Hz with vsync ( 1280 x nnn neads manually tweaking).

I find the 720x576@50Hz the best resolution on both screens, For some reason the colors get over saturated when using the high resolutions,

So , this is a great improvement over the previous version:thumbup:

  • Vsync is even working on a very cheap none gaming asus monitor with vsync @50hz with perfect fit to the screen, Nice :) Seems there is a bigger change a monitor will work nice with the TC.

Couldnt get this to work before with this screen and still not with my IndiECSv2.

When i have some time i put the info of my monitors in combination with the chameleon in the thread Jens has started.

  • and still not with my IndiECSv2.

Indivisino ECS V2 lets you tweak even more parameters than Chameleon. So if you have it working with Chameleon, you *will* get it to work with Indivision ECS V2. Just fiddle a bit more - 50Hz is tricky with many monitors, but the result is great.

  • Gave the new firmware version a try here btw on my chameleon 64 v2. Unfortunatly I don't see any improvements on any modes. I tried doing the same thing as on my old thread but the problems remain on all screenmodes.

  • Unfortunatly I don't see any improvements on any modes.

Try lower output resolutions with a lower pixel clock - this is now possible, and gives a considerable improvement. If you're only trying high output resolutions with high H/V frequencies, you're too close to the hardware limits.

I did try with the lower resolutions and clock although I still get similar problems unfortunatly. They are better than the higher modes but still as I had earlier I'm even still getting some ghosting.

  • This is the same as with Indivision ECS V2, which behaves differently on different monitors. Especially Samsung monitors are prone to display ghosting, where BenQ for example shows it much less. I still have a patch-board on my todo list - if only I had more time...

BenQ BL 702A and BL912 shows quite bad ghosting on both TC64 V2 and ECS V2. Clearly visible smearing/ghosting on the right side of objects. No matter what pixel clock or resolution.

The BenQ BL702A have razor sharp picture with the Indivision ECS V2.

  • The only probleem is that the ACA500Plus menu not center correct with the Indivision ECS V2. For the rest I very happy with it. Far better than the Indivision ECS V1. Also the Indivision AGA MK3 is perfect sharp on the BenQ BL702A. Much better than the Indivision AGA MK2CR. Like the Live-modus for some WHDLoad Games.

  • Thought I'd give trying to photograph the problem I'm having with ghosting on all of my screens. This is the best I could get btw. I've had to increase the contrast in this image btw as it is hard to capture on camera but it is much more pronounced (and at all resolutions) on my monitors. For example on the normal C64 blue screen and after setting the cursor to white I can see about 3 or 4 ghosts after the cursor.

BTW I did also try upgrading to the new core (9k) but no improvement.

  • BTW I did also try upgrading to the new core (9k) but no improvement.

There is no point in expecting an improvement with a new core, as that won't change the hardware. What does improve is reduction of pixel clock, and if you're going 50Hz, ghosting is pretty much not noticable. In any case, the picture is way better than any C64 ever produced it :-)

I agree that the picture is better than any C64 produced, but the ghosting/smearing is quite distracting in many games. Like in International Karate and many other games one can see like 3 to 4 smearing shadows on the right side of the characters. Some games shows it much better than others due to certain colours showing it much better. It's not a pretty sight. And this smearing is very visible in 50Hz on all monitors I've tried.

How is the progress on the mod boards you were working on to improve the picture quality on TC64 V2 and ECS V2?
