  • My MK1 reloaded have started giving me memory problems:

Resetting the Reloaded will show a different amount each time, but always in the 12k-15k range, with the occasional out of memory error:

I tried to re-insert the chips in the ZIF sockets and to press on the other socketed ones in case one had come loose, but everything seemed to sit firmly.

Maybe a RAM chip has gone bad (for whatever reason)? The RAM chips in the Reloaded are 4464-12NL. I had a look at some of the chips I once aquired as part of a larger lot of C64 hardware I bought, and there's a lot of 4464-10NL in there. After some googling it looked like they should be compatible? I tried to replace the RAM chips, but still got the exact same errors. Maybe the RAM chips I replaced with are broken too, or not compatible, or could my problem be related to something else than the RAM chips?

  • I'd test the other ICs in another C64 first, the PLA in particular. I dont think this is a RAM related problem, since different RAM chips keep different bits that would show different symptoms
